Hannah Lynn Schmidt - 1 Year Old

Guess who turned 1 on Monday??!!  This Girl!!

Here are Hannah's stats from her one year check yesterday:

Head - 17 5/8" a-41%
Weight - 18lbs 11oz - 14%
Height - 28 1/2"  - 32%

The appointment was awful.  4 shots, followed by a blood draw at the lab (checking for lead and anemia).  The lab tech had the worst time locating her little veins.  They started in one arm (moving the needle around in her little arm while she was screaming), moved to the other arm with no luck.  Returned back to the first arm where the finally found it in her hand.  Andy had to hold her down the entire time while she was screaming for literally 20 minutes.  Worst appointment ever.  After talking with my mom she said we should have asked for a different tech about 5 minutes into it, which I will definitely do next time.  It was a bit ridiculous.

When Henry turned one I remembered his favorite toy being the balloons we bought for his party.  So I brought home a big bouquet of princess balloons in celebration of Hannah's birthday.

I'm so excited!!

Birthday princess in her princess chair.

Happy baby girl.

Henry loving the balloons just as much as Hannah!

It has been so much fun watching Henry and Hannah grow together over this past year.  Over the past few months they have really started interacting together which is so cool.  My favorite things to watch now is when Henry is doing something, like jumping, he will say 'Do This Hannah!'.  He always encourages her to do everything he is doing.

It is also nice that we don't have to worry as much about them rough housing it.  Hannah can take Henry on her own now!  She even messes with him sometimes - which cracks me up.  In the mornings we bring Hannah into Henry's room with us when it is time to wake him up.  She goes over to his bed and pats him on the back to wake him up.  He doesn't like it so much, but she loves it!  It is almost like she is talking to him in her own language.

So big standing on her own!

Her favorite cabinet to crawl in and out.

We now officially have a 2 year old and a 1 year old.  Doesn't that sound crazy??!!

Dear Hannah - we love you so much and couldn't imagine our lives without you.

Anne and Mike's Big Day

Friday night we flew out to Chicago to spend the weekend celebrating with one of my best friends from college Anne, and her now husband Mike.  Anne and I both lived in Mayflower our freshman year of college and hung out all of the time the entire four years of college.  During summer breaks I would drive over to her hometown of Joliet, Illinois to spend weekends with her and her family.  Her parents are some of the nicest people I have met, and her dad Steve definitely gets husband of the year award.

Walking the beautiful bride down the aisle.
I was obviously super excited to see all of my girlfriends, but I was really excited to get to spend time with Jean and Steve.  I hadn't seen them in four years!

Mr. and Mrs. Michael Meyer!

Julie and I at the church.
At The Peninsula Hotel before the reception.  Andy and I standing not too far from where Tom Hanks was that morning.  He was super nice to Anne and took his picture with her on her big day!
Chi O friends.

Hanging out on the Peninsula Terrace for cocktail hour.  The Terrace overlooked Michigan Ave right across from Water Tower Place.
Our 'magnificant' scenery.  John Hancock building in the background.

Anne and I.

At the reception.  The food was delicious.

Singing our last Chi Omega song - bitter sweet!

The Melvin and Cheese dance (that possibly may include ripping off their shirts)!  A tradition started several years ago and gets better and better each year!

Ryan break dancing!!

Anne's mom and dad, Jean and Steve.  Anne's mom has MS, just like my grandma Marilyn.  You better believe that her wheelchair did not stop her from being on the dance floor all. night. long.  Watching Steve dance with Jean all night was just precious.  All of our husbands mentioned that Mr. Hooks was the husband and father they all want to be some day.  So cool.  Love you Jean and Steve!!

The famous group picture.  We actually all look pretty good this late in the night!
Ok - this is more like us.

Congrats to Anne and Mike - we are so happy for you two.  Ready to do it again next year??  I'm sure Steve wouldn't mind:)

Family Picture and Babysitting

First shot taken and we got a perfect pic of everyone!  That hardly ever happens!!

Big deal in the Schmidt house last night - we paid for our first ever babysitter!  Since Claire has been around pretty much every night we figured the kids were comfortable enough with her to let her try it out alone for an hour.  So Andy and I left for about an hour while Claire stayed home with the kids.  They didn't even cry when we left!  She did say that Henry got sad for a second, but he got over it pretty quick.  I see many more kid free nights ahead for us!

Bathtime Fun!

After Hannah's party on Saturday night the boys were filthy.  So they all took a bath in our jetted tub.  We got the bubbles and jets going and they swam around and around in circles giggling loudly the entire time.

Who is going to fall under the water first??

Jill told me the boys talked about this bath for days - that is how much fun they had.

Giggling.

Henry's bubble beard.

Swimming in circles.

Hannah taking a bath at the same time in her bathroom - only much less action going on.  It won't be long before she is running right alongside the boys.

Happy Friday!

Water Table Fun

One of Hannah's birthday presents was a water table from cousins Bennett and Camron.  We got it out the other night when it was nice and sunny.

Let me introduce you to Claire.  Claire is our 13 year old neighbor who lives three doors down.  She is our favorite neighbor by far!  She comes over every night for at least an hour and plays with the kids while we wind down from work and get dinner ready.   Last night she stayed long enough and gave Hannah her bath and put her to bed.  Not a bad deal!

Hannah playing with her new toy.

Henry is still learning how to share all of Hannah's new toys with her.  He likes them just as much, if not more.  And of course he always wants to play with whatever she is holding.  Luckily Hannah is happy as long as she has something to play with - she doesn't necessarily have her favorites yet.

Most of the water on the ground now.

Hi Mom - I'm so big!!

Hannah's 1st Birthday Party

Our little princess had her 1st birthday party on Saturday.  She doesn't officially turn the big ONE until Monday - but Andy and I are in Chicago this weekend for a wedding, so we scheduled the big party a week ahead of schedule.

I am all about cake and dessert - so knew the cake had to be good.  I was referred to a lady that works in the building I manage.  She makes cakes on the side.  Not only do they look great, but they are delicious and cheap!  For these two cakes (the big cake alone serves 30-35 people) she only charged me $25!

It isn't a party without the chocolate fountain!

Or a game of bags!

Bennett loving him some chocolate.

Georgia having a little issue with the rice krispies!

Look at all four teeth coming in on top!

Aunt Heidi and Uncle Nate hanging with the boys.  Henry did very well with sharing.

I loved watching the boys play ball.  It was the first time watching Henry do this.  It made me realize just how grown up he is!

The girls playing in the yard.

Time to open presents!  Finally some girly books and toys!  Hannah has been playing with her brother's toys for the past year, so she was very excited to get her very own toys.

Chaos - I loved every minute of it!  And I know Hannah did as well.

Playing with the kitchen we bought her.  She kept trying to drink out of the fountain.

Isn't her apron the cutest!

But mom - no water is coming out??!!

Time for some yummy cake.  Hannah had her very own cake.  It took her a few tries, but she finally dug her hand down deep.  She didn't eat too much of the cake.  She played with it more than anything.

Hannah and her friends.  Peyton 9 months and Georgia 14 months.

Baking cupcakes with her friend.

Henry giving Peyton a hug goodbye.  Check out P's face!!  Priceless!

Hanging out with her grandma's.

Overall it was a perfect day.  Crazy to think that my little baby has entered toddler hood.

Hannah is one spoiled little girl who is loved so much!  Happy 1st birthday baby girl!
