Hosting the Schmidts

We had such a great weekend with the entire Schmidt clan in town Saturday and Sunday.  Baby Kate is now 3 months old, and just adorable!  I was very anxious to see how the kids were around her, and as you can see by the pictures below - she was quite a big hit.  Hannah was in.her.face the entire time.  And when I say in her face, I mean always like 1 inch away from her face at all times.  Kate probably had no idea what was going on, since she is the first born, but she got some serious toddler lovin this weekend.

LOVE this pic!  You can see how excited Hannah is to be holding her baby cousin.  She had Kate in a pretty good head lock.

Henry thought she was pretty cool too, but not nearly as interested as Hannah was.  Once Camron and Bennett got here, he lost interest pretty quickly.  I'm certain though that he will be a great big brother.

Making sure Kate had enough babies to play with.

Reading her a book.

Love this one!  Hannah needs to work on being 'gentle' a little bit.  She had a hard time understanding that Kate was not a baby, and that Kate would put her arms and head where she wanted to, and not stay in the place where Hannah wanted them to be.

My little mama.

Again, in.her.face.

Cousins!!  So fun having slumber parties!

Telling Kate goodbye, and making sure she didn't need changed again.  I think she asked Heidi about every five minutes if Kate needed her diaper changed, and she would bring her the wipes as well.

Boys before church.  Camron came to Sunday School with Henry which was very cool for them.  I loved watching them sing and dance together.

After church we ate at Olive Garden, which was super yummy, and then sent everyone off.

We will see if the kids are this excited about their own baby brother or sister coming in a few months, and whether that excitement wears off after a day or two and they wish it to be sent back to the hospital!!

Welcome Kate Johannah!

Saturday morning we got the text had been waiting for - Heidi was in labor!!  Her due date was this Friday, November 9th, but baby decided to come early.  Heidi and Nathan decided not to find out the gender, so we were all very anxious to find out if baby was pink or blue.  I was secretly hoping for a girl, so we could even out the cousins and Hannah could have a girl cousin to play with, but of course, we all were just hoping for happy and healthy.  So when it was announced a girl had arrived, I went down to the basement and went through all of Hannah's newborn pink stuff to see what would work for Kate.  Hannah was born in the summer, so not everything lined up with the current season - but we brought over two bags stuffed with pink and purple.

Uncle Andy and Kate.
We packed up Saturday night, stayed in Shuey with my dad, and then Andy and I headed over to Moline on Sunday morning to meet her and see Heidi and Nathan.

Such a perfect little bundle.

Our Schmidt family holidays will sure be fun with all these little ones!!  So exciting!!

Baby Vorac

Andy's sister Heidi and her husband Nate are expecting their first baby in early November.  So of course, we had to throw Baby Vorac a party.  This past Sunday we hosted a baby shower for Baby Vorac.  Heidi and Nate had the most adorable announcement in Geneseo when we were there for Easter a few months ago.  Both sides of the family were at there house when Heidi came down the stairs wearing a shirt that read 'Future Hawkeye' with an arrow pointing to her belly.  Loved that!!  We were all so excited for them!

Here are a few pictures from the shower.  Baby Vorac's gender will be revealed in November, so luckily black and gold goes with boy or girl.  This baby will be ready to watch it's first Hawkeye games in true black and gold style.

I love the onesies on hanger look, and since the gender is not yet known, I just bought some of each!  Pink owl for girl, and blue dinosaur for boy.

We played two games, guess the old wives tale gender prediction questions, and baby pictionary!  Heidi scored 50% boy and 50% girl, so guess we still don't know....

Baby got a TON of good stuff.  Toys, carseat, clothes, you name it.

And of course, Hawkeye gear!

Love this one!!

Heidi's good friends Leah, Amy and Brigit all came into town.

And my favorite part was Nate packing up all of the stuff.  Heidi took some of our baby stuff we have in our basement - the famous Sleep Sheep Swing, that Hannah lived in for her first 3 months, and the tummy time mat that both of our kids used and loved.

Can't wait to meet Baby Vorac in just over 2 months!!
