Luke 9 Months

Our big guy is already 9 months!  I had to reschedule his 9 month check since it fell on Muffins for Mom's at daycare, so I don't have any stats for the chunker, but I'm assuming he's cleared 20 pounds easy.  Here is what Luke is up half way through his 9th month:

  • Separation anxiety has set in.  Full blown.  If he isn't in his mommy's arms, he is lunging out of whoever's arms he is in crying for her, or on the ground crying for her to pick him up.  I of course cater to him, since he is my baby!
  • He is getting very brave.  Standing on his own for a few seconds at a time with no hands.
  • Climbing on everything.
  • Crawling super fast.  He darts across the room with a blink of an eye.
  • Takes two 4-5 ounce bottles at daycare each day.  And nurses in morning and night (and middle of night still - yikes!!)
  • Yes, my 9 month old still wakes up in the middle of the night.  Now that we are back from our 7 night trip, I may start to get tougher.  Or maybe not - he is the last one.  Somehow, mom's get a super power and can work and function on little sleep.  Not sure how - besides a lot of caffeine!  Since I know this is not going to last for much longer, I'm not too bothered by it.  Though I am definitely looking forward to the nights of sleeping through the night.  And that we won't ever have to go through the night wakings again!
  • Talking a lot.  He says 'dadadadada' when he sees Andy and 'mamamamama' when he sees me.  It is adorable.  He has also learned how to scream, which isn't so adorable.
  • Loves sticking out his tongue and doing raspberries.
  • Has three teeth.  Bottom middle two and top left eye tooth.
  • Kicking of his legs when he is excited.
Here are some pics of our baby.  Don't mind the red cheeks, baby's first sunburn...

As I was feeding him tonight I couldn't help but realize how big he is getting.  This stage may be one of my favorites.  I honestly can't get enough of his open mouth kisses, leg kicks, hugs, giggles, and excitement that crosses his face when he sees me.  Stop growing so fast little Lukey!

Easter 2014

Easter weekend was a great Jesus celebration with family.  The entire Schmidt clan came over, we all went to church on Saturday, the kids colored eggs, had an egg hunt, and we enjoyed the beautiful weather outside!

Disney 2014!

Guess where we will be in less than a month??!!  Disney World!  I couldn't resist this Mickey shirt for Luke.  And I got Hannah and Leah matching Minnie shirts this week.  Can't wait to be in the Florida sunshine again!  We haven't told the kids yet - and haven't decided when we will do it.  But they are going to freak!  And I am just as excited as they will be - if not more:)

Luke 8 Months

Luke hit 8 months old on April 1st.  This is what he has been up to:

Crawling.  Everywhere.  And fast.  He is now pulling up on things too.  And has found the coffee table, which was always Henry and Hannah's favorite thing to crawl up onto.  Time to take the glass out of the middle of it!

He slept through the night twice this week!  And more importantly - so did I!  The end is in sight, when our entire family of 5 will start to sleep again.  Once Henry and Hannah started sleeping through the night, we have had no issues, and they are the best sleepers.  They don't get out of their beds, they don't sleep with us, they don't wet their beds, and they sleep hard from around 9 until 7.  It is just those first months that are the worst!  And we are almost there!

He LOVES big people food.  He started eating all the same meals at school that the big kids eat, and loves it.

He is down to two bottles a day at 10a and 2p, around 5 oz each.  Switched to level 3 nipple on the bottles and he takes them down so fast.  I am still nursing him, and pumping twice at work.  I plan to cut down to once a day this week and start the weaning process - but I keep pushing it off - last baby!  Last time nursing!  So awesome, yet so sad...

He is heavy.  Time to think about moving him to a big boy car seat!

He is much better with his hands.  He knows to open them once he puts them in his mouth when he is eating finger foods.

He crawls right over to his brother and sister and wants to play with anything they are playing with.

This week he has been fussy, and has had a temp the past three nights.  Could be teeth, could be a virus, but this is definitely the fussiest he has been to date.

He has entered the separation anxiety phase.  And has to have mommy in sight every second.  And lately, has to be in my arms every second.  This too shall pass, but it is hard to get anything done!

His eyes are still changing.  Most days they still look grey.  Some days green.  And he is growing a teeny bit of hair.

And he says BABABA, all day, every day.  He loves to sing along with the fam.

And for comparison - HERE is Hannah's 8 1/2 month milestone blog.

Hannah's little fingers are the best for picking out boogers out of Luke's nose!

Now that he can move - he is always trying to escape the arms of his sister!!  She still wants to be in his face every second.  Poor Lukey.

Crazy Hair

We all know that Hannah has crazy hair.  We still aren't sure what her hair is going to do, turn straight, or stay curly.  For now we have a nice mess to work with each morning, which most days we just throw a clip or headband in.  Her hair is always so hard to comb through, so most nights we just call it good, and don't brush all the way through her tangles.  She always fights it, and it is one of the battles I choose not to fight, since in the mornings it is always in knots again!  But lately, she has let me braid her hair at night, because she wants to be just like Elsa.  And last night I come in to find this - Daddy combing her hair.  It was his first time combing her hair!  I just loved this moment, and of course had to get a photo of it.

And here is her French braid, just like Elsa.  Only she says it isn't as long as Elsa's yet.  So we are working on that.  I get better each time I do the braid, and she gets better at sitting still and letting me work through her hair!

Even the hair tie had to be blue, like Elsa.  Frozen is everywhere in this house still!!  I can hear her as I type this sing 'Let it Go' over and over again as it is on repeat in her room.  Good thing the music is great!

Helpers

These two have been very good helpers lately.  Every little bit helps around the house.  The other night they helped clean the bathrooms with disinfecting wipes, cleaned the mirrors, and wiped up the floor.  Andy and I love the extra help (especially Andy since he does most of the cleaning)!  Never too early to start them on chores!

Cousins

We had Leah over a few weekends ago, and these cousins had so much fun playing together!

I couldn't resist these bright, spring, matching shirts.  Henry loves wearing the same outfit as Luke, which I just love.

Henry is SO good with the babies!!

Just playing some cards and using Henry's head as a drum!

Crawler!

We've got a crawler!!  Luke started crawling two weeks ago, so a week before he turned 8 months old.  He had been lunging on all fours for about four weeks, and then scooting, and mastered going from sitting to all fours back to sitting again.  So we knew it wouldn't be long.  Then he finally took off two Saturdays ago!  Exciting that we hit this milestone, all three kids mobile, but that also means we need to baby proof, and clean more, and worry about the location of 3 kids, not two!  Andy found him under the table eating a stale cracker the other night!!  Oops....

And now that he is crawling, he has also started pulling himself up on everything!

My favorite new pose of his - the plank!

Finding his shadow.
