Henry's Growing Up

Henry has reached some huge milestones over the past few months.  He turned three in October, and since then, it seems like he has just grown up so fast!

Over Thanksgiving we transitioned him from his toddler bed to a big boy bed.  This is nice for mom and dad too for the times he does wake up in the middle of the night.  We can just crawl into bed next to him instead of lying on the floor next to him.  He loves it too.  He has only fallen out of the bed once, and we've learned our lesson since then to put up a wall of pillows on the edge of the bed.

The next big milestone was Henry started Preschool!  Last Monday when we dropped him off at school we took him to a new room in the preschool wing.  He had been talking about it for months and was very ready.  There are 6 other classmates that have birthdays within 2 months of each other, so all 7 of them, plus one of their teachers from the 2's room transitioned to preschool.  His teacher, Mrs Roxie has commented on what an awesome job Henry has done.

Yesterday Henry started a preschool basketball clinic through the Waukee YMCA.  Though he is the smallest on the team, he loved every minute of it!  He can't quite get the ball to the basket yet - but he does such a great job listening to the coaches directions, standing in line, and waiting his turn.  He loved it and told me he wants to come back again.

Standing in line with his teammates waiting for the dribbling drill.  Team name ' Hawkeyes'.

Incorporating some 'tackling' by falling to the ground and getting the ball.  This boy loves sports!

Then the last big news we have to report is that we are on day 3 of no pull ups at night!  He has woken up dry each morning.  That is a huge step!  We have cut off liquids at night past 7pm or so.  He can have a small drink of water if he is thirsty.  But so far so good.

Henry is definitely still a mama's boy.  He only wants me to dress him, take him potty, pick him up, dry him off after bath, etc.  It is pretty annoying at times, especially in the mornings when I am running late blow drying my hair and he throws a fit when Andy tries to change him.  Not sure what to do about that.  I keep hoping it is a phase, but it has lasted 3 years....guess I should savor these times since before I know it he won't need my help at all anymore.
