Sunday School

We have been members at a large Lutheran church in West Des Moines for almost 5 years now.  Both of our kids were baptised here, and now that our kids are getting older, we are starting to get more involved.  Yes, the crowds are a pain at times, but the pastor gives such great messages that we always can relate to, the church does so many wonderful projects for those in need, and you can be as involved as much or as little as you want to without ever feeling pressured.

This year Henry was old enough to start Sunday School.  When the email was sent out that volunteers were needed, I thought it was a great way for Andy and I to get involved.  I had helped with Vacation Bible School this past summer, so figured it would be similar to that.  Plus, what is cooler than spreading the word of God to a room filled of 3 and 4 year olds??!!  A couple friend of ours from the kids school teaches as well, and as she explained it 'organized chaos'.  That is pretty much what it is - but we love every minute of it!  So each 3rd Sunday of the month Andy and I are in charge of 12 - 20 three and four year olds, there are four 3/4 year old classes for our service.  We teach them a lesson, do a craft, Shepherd them to large group for music time, and then make sure they all get back safely to their parents.  Music time is by far my favorite.  These kids love to sing and dance, and it makes me tear up with joy pretty much every time we are there.  We even sing and dance along with them.  Crazy to think that next year Hannah will be old enough for VBS and Sunday School - our kids are growing up so fast!!
